Illustrated map gathers 190 award-winning buildings from 2020

A companion site lists all award entry deadlines in Canada, month by month.

The Canada Research Chair in Architecture, Competitions and Mediations of Excellence (CRC-ACME) and the AREA-BE Network  have produced Canada’s first illustrated map of all award-winning buildings and projects in 2020.

After releasing the first Historical Repertory of Canadian Awards in all areas of the built environment, which comprised an interactive database listing 2921 award-winning entries since the early 1990s, the CRC-ACME and AREA-BE’s network team has unveiled the first illustrated Reference Map, listing more than 190 awarded buildings and projects from 2020.

“From the thumbnails on the map or in the visual gallery, it is possible to reach the websites of all professional offices and awarding organizations across Canada. These reference tools work on all platforms and formats. We have also launched the Joint Calendar of Canadian Awards on a new site and simplified its use,” says the organizations.

Researchers can now browse through the 2020 Visual Gallery to sort entries by firm, city or award organization, while search boxes add the ability to list all awards by office or region, and to search by individual and team names.

These tools are provided in open access to allow professionals, educators and the general public to probe the variety and quality of Canada’s built environments.
