The Distillery District’s most illuminating takeover is back. From January 17th to March 1st, the Toronto Light Festival will transform the city’s iconic neighbourhood into one of the largest open-air sculpture galleries in North America.
Lighting up both day and night, the festival is free to the public and will include an abundance of new daytime programming at The Distillery District’s restaurants and boutiques.
For the first time ever, the Toronto Light Festival is offering a sneak peek into some of the artists that will be exhibiting at this year’s festival, including Amigo & Amigo, Toer Studios and Lumus Instruments.
“This festival is an immersive experience that will brighten any day,” says Matthew Rosenblatt, Executive Director of the festival and art exhibitor. “The installations are designed to bring people together, warm their hearts and imaginations, and add a little light to some of the darkest months of the year.”
Toronto Light Festival will feature more than 15 stunning light art installations from local and international artists.
A global roster of artists from Canada, the United States, Australia and The Netherlands will showcase works including life-sized mushrooms, infinity mirrors, astronauts, and so much more.
The Distillery District is enhancing its wintertime experience by offering even more arts, culture and entertainment-centric activations during the day and on weekends.
Offerings will include:
- More sculptural pieces to be enjoyed during the day
- A huge neighbourhood wide brunch offering at all of the Distillery’s restaurants. Some of the unique brunch offerings include:
- El Catrin’s Outdoor Winter Brunch Challenge on their spectacular patio
- A delicious Caesar brunch at Pure Spirits
- Bubbles at Cluny Bistro’s champagne brunch
- There will also be a number of charitable initiatives throughout the neighbourhood
