Come celebrate a Canadian success story – Rooftops Canada – and learn about neighbourhood transformation in South Africa.
– – –
Neighbourhood change is experienced internationally. Canada is no exception. We have a wealth of experience within the urban planning and social housing sectors. Canada has a history of leveraging that experience abroad through Rooftops Canada: sharing resources, insights and securing funds to assist local actors with their own community-based projects.
With Daniels Spectrum in Regent Park serving as an appropriate venue, Frank Lewinberg from Urban Strategies Inc. will interview Josie Adler, a community organizer with the EKhaya group. Josie has been actively involved in organizing residents to reclaim the Hillbrow neighbourhood in Johannesburg since 2004, working to make it safer and more liveable.
Special guest: Adam Vaughan, MP Spadina-Fort York, Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister for Intergovernmental Affairs.
