Event Details

What does it mean to have a human connection to a place? What’s the future of transportation in Calgary? How can we design our city for those who motor in a chair or on two wheels instead of walk, or for those who don’t drive? What physical barriers might be shed? To continue the conversation about Movement where we left off last January, as well as to celebrate the winning entries of Movement: a call for ideas, design talks (d.talks) presents Movement: an exhibition.

Throughout the length of the exhibition, a series of pop-up discussions, led by some of Calgary’s most celebrated urbanites, will take place from May 23 to June 14, 2019. More details about these pop-up events will be posted on our website (

The opening reception of Movement: an exhibition, will take place on Thursday, May 23, at the City Building Design Lab (616 MacLeod Trail SE) at 6 p.m.

This exhibition and pop-up events are organized with the support of the School of Architecture, Planning & Landscape at the University of Calgary, The City of Calgary, Alberta Government and Alberta Foundation for the Arts.

Design Talks Institute (d.talks) is a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing education and the public understanding of architecture and design in the urban environment. Through research and public dissemination in the forms of exhibitions, discussions and open forums, we work to bring together multiple perspectives that foster dialogue and reveal the complexity of the city.
