The Forum Lecture Series is a long held tradition that aims to introduce students, faculty and the wider Ottawa community to a host of leading practitioners and critics of architecture. This lecture will be an examination of Francisco Spadoni’s latest works.

Francisco Spadoni is the founding principal of Spadoni AA in São Paulo, Brazil, and Milan, Italy. Spadoni AA works at many scales: architecture, urbanism and product design.

The Institute of Brazilian Architects honoured Spadoni AA with awards for the Internet Series SESC projects and the Mackenzie University campus building in São Paulo. In 2007, he was the curator at the Debate Forum of the Seventh São Paulo International Biennial of Architecture.  In 2010, he was shortlisted at World Architecture Festival in Barcelona for his Hyundai Pavilion. In 2014, his work on the Paula Souza Center – a major urban complex in the heart of São Paulo – received the APCA Prize from the São Paulo Critics Association of Art.

In addition to his practice, Spadoni is a professor in the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism at the São Paulo University where he co-ordinates the graduate program in Architecture Design. He has also participated as a lecturer and visiting professor at institutions in Brazil and abroad in Argentina, Italy, Canada, France, Uruguay, China and Russia. His work and articles have been regularly published in magazines such as AreaDomusSUMMAProjetoArquine, and A+U and in many books. Monolito Magazine dedicated a special issue to Spadoni AA in 2014.
