DX Emerging Designer Competition deadline extended

The DX Emerging Designer Competition, where innovative design and entrepreneurial flair intersect in the most attractive way—and the only competition of its kind in Canada—is now accepting submissions from 18-35-year-old designers of all kinds. From digital, interior and graphic design to architecture and fashion design, the national competition seeks to provide an electrifying opportunity for developing Canadian talent to garner recognition and exposure while celebrating diverse disciplines of design in Canada.

Unlike any judging team seen in Canada, the 2015 DX Emerging Designer Competition jury is a power-player roster of nationally renowned design and business minds. At the forefront of fashion, Andrea Lenczner and Christie Smythe of Smythe, whose jackets are famously worn by Kate Middleton and Hollywood celebrities; architecture guru, Kim Herforth Nielsen, a co-founder of Copenhagen’s 3XN, one of the world’s most forward-thinking architecture firms; Facebook’s Jordan Banks, Global Head of Vertical Strategy; digital design mastermind Anne-Elisabeth Thibault, a producer at Montreal’s Moment Factory, a multimedia studio that has created outstanding outdoor light and sound environments and dynamic stage sets for Nine Inch Nails, Jay Z and Madonna; Allan Guinan, principal at Figure3, one of Canada’s largest multidisciplinary design firms; designaholic Paul Rowan, Vice-President of Inspiration and founding partner at Umbra; and Frontier founder and creative director Paddy Harrington.

Submit your portfolio of realized and soon-to-be-completed projects. Have your work juried by a star-studded jury of Canadian and international design, culture and business leaders, and exhibit your work at Canada’s design museum! Plus, you have a chance to win $10,000.

“Winning the DX’s Emerging Designer Competition will allow me to invest in my own ideas and bring them into production. With the financial support of RBC Foundation, my ideas will come to reality and with the Design Exchange as a platform, in which to showcase these ideas, I can take the next step in my career as a designer and producer.”

– EDC 2014 Winner, Lukas Peet

The entry deadline has been extended to August 31, 2015.
