Diamond Schmitt Architects reveal design of Buddy Holly Hall of Performing Arts and Sciences in Texas

Lubbock Entertainment and Performing Arts Association (LEPAA) recently unveiled Diamond Schmitt Architects’ final design of The Buddy Holly Hall of Performing Arts and Sciences, to be built in Lubbock, Texas.

This world-class venue’s design is the result of over six months of collaboration between local and international development team partners Garfield Public/Private, LLC; Parkhill, Smith & Cooper; MWM Architects; Diamond Schmitt Architects; Hugo Reed & Associates; Jaffe Holden Acoustics; Schuler Shook; and Lee Lewis Construction.

“Our vision for this facility is that it’s perfectly at home on the global stage of performing arts centres, that it can compete with the best in the world, but that it’s inspired by and in the spirit of Lubbock, West Texas, and the South Plains,” said Matthew Lella, principal at Diamond Schmitt Architects.

Highlighted amenities of this hybrid performance venue include a 2,220-seat main theatre, 425-seat studio theatre, 6,000-square-foot multipurpose room, and a bistro café.

Representatives from Plains Capital Bank and Atmos Energy presented the LEPAA with their donations in the amount of $500,000 and $50,000, respectively.

LEPAA recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Lubbock Independent School District which will allow LISD students to utilize the new facility, as well as hold UIL competitions there.

“The goal of LEPAA and The Buddy Holly Hall of Performing Arts and Sciences is to create a lasting cultural arts legacy for years to come,” said LEPAA Board Chairman Tim Collins.
