The municipal council of the Ville de Beloeil recently awarded the contract for the expansion and redevelopment of the Aurèle-Dubois cultural space to the team of l’Agence Spatiale, BGLA architecture & design urbain, Parallèle 54 et Genecor Experts-Conseils.

The consortium presented an innovative project that will meet the needs of the citizens of Beloeil.

The project proposes a structuring central pathway and the concept aims to encourage encounters with urbanity and the community, the park, knowledge and the grandeur of the landscape. The concept for the Aurèle-Dubois cultural space will also include enlarging the municipal library to increase its floor area as well as redesigning its spaces.

The cultural center will also be redeveloped and expanded to provide professional, multidisciplinary presentation facilities. Additionally, there are plans to create new premises to accommodate creation, production and dissemination spaces for children and young people, and to pool available spaces to create a synergy between the various partners.

Although some details of the final concept are subject to change, the project already meets many of the demands of citizens such as accessibility, the addition of new premises and an improved cultural offering.

The working committee bringing together all those involved in the expansion and redevelopment of the Aurèle-Dubois cultural space is already hard at work. The official opening is scheduled for December 2026.

In April 2022, the city received confirmation of subsidies totalling almost $11 million. This project is funded in part by the Government of Canada through the Community, Cultural and Recreational Infrastructure component of the Invest in Canada Infrastructure Program, and by the Government of Quebec through the Aide au développement des infrastructures culturelles program.
