Design Matters with Leon van Schaik

Join the University of Calgary Faculty of Environmental Design (EVDS) on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 for Leon van Schaik’s innovative Design Matters presentation on Design Practice Research: how we release the “sealed cognitive research capital” in established and successful creative practice.

Leon van Schaik is Professor of Architecture at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) in Melbourne, Australia, where he holds an Innovation Chair in practice-based research in design. From his base in Melbourne, van Schaik promotes local and international architectural culture through practice-based research, focusing on creating and sustaining innovative communities of practice.

In 2006 he was made an Officer (AO) in the General Division of the Order of Australia, for service to architecture as an academic, practitioner and educator, and to the community through involvement with a wide range of boards and organisations related to architecture, culture and the arts.

The presentation runs from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the University of Calgary Downtown Campus, located at 906 8 Avenue SW. Admission is free for students and $4 for everyone else.
