This year’s scientific program will explore how infrastructure investment can help to connect communities and urban life to health systems in a way that encourages healthier lifestyles and prevents the onset of disease. Major themes include: health-care design innovations, applying research to real-world practice, exploring new procurement models, sustainable design advancements, international design perspectives on health delivery, the impact of design on special care environments, evaluating planning methodologies, active living in older life, ecology and urban planning, and creating health communities.

The International Academy for Design & Health (IADH) is a global non-profit organization with an interdisciplinary knowledge community dedicated to the stimulation and application of research concerning the interaction between design, health, science, culture and economics. Founded by Dr Alan Dilani at the Karolinska Institute Medical University in Stockholm in 1997, the aim of the IADH is to provide a highly visible global forum for promoting an ongoing international exchange of research findings among scientists, designers, architects health professionals, industry and Ministries of Health worldwide.
