Deadline for submissions to the EXPOSED! CSLA Congress ’05
November 30, 2004 is the deadline for the call for papers/submission of abstracts and the call for panel discussion participant information for the 2005 Canadian Society of Landscape Architects Congress 2005. Landscape architects and others are invited to share their perspectives on the state of the profession today, and the forces shaping its future.
Held in Winnipeg, Manitoba, from August 17-20, 2005, the Congress theme EXPOSED! will examine converging issues facing the profession today: strengthening the status and profile of the profession of landscape architecture; defining the core skills and values that underpin the profession; distinguishing landscape architects from a growing variety of environmental consultants; and envisioning the role of landscape architects in the future. Questions to be discussed include how landscape architects are perceived by and relate to other professionals, project managers, contractors, clients and the public; and whether the diversity of practice and range of perceptions help or hinder landscape architects in coping with shifting social values, environmental pressures, emerging technologies, and competition from new disciplines.
The intent of Congress 2005 EXPOSED! is to foster discourse and promote interaction between delegates and presenters representing different perspectives of the profession. Panel participants can select the traditional paper presentation format, or a combination of paper, panel discussion and workshop. The Committee welcomes suggestions for other presentation methods or techniques to engage all participants and enliven the event.
