CONNECT: Enabling Change-Postsecondary Design Competition
The Design Exchange, Canada’s Design Museum, has announced the fourth year of the CONNECT: Enabling Change Postsecondary Design Competition. With the support of the Government of Ontario, this competition invites college and university students from across the province to submit projects exploring design concepts that are accessible to everyone, and help remove barriers for people with disabilities.
Students are invited to submit projects that illustrate the idea of design for all—in that the design of products and environments is usable by all people to the greatest extent possible, without the need for adaptation.
The competition is open to all Ontario postsecondary students studying in all design fields. For its fourth year, the competition emphasizes accessibility in design for web and digital platforms. Ontario’s accessibility laws require some organizations to take steps to make newly developed websites more accessible to people with disabilities. These requirements will create increased demand for designers with a thorough understanding of accessibility. Students studying interactive and web design are strongly encouraged to enter.
Submissions are due on April 1, 2015.
