The Association des architectes paysagistes du Québec (AAPQ) has revealed its 2013 convention program, whose theme is Collective Landscapes: Appropriating, Adapting and Creating the City. Taking place from April 19-20, 2013 at the Montreal Science Centre, the event, presented under the honorary presidency of Mr. David Heurtel, President and CEO at Montreal’s Olympic Park, will provide the opportunity to reflect on city planning in the context of climate change through a number of scientific, artistic, cultural and social approaches, presented by a variety of panelists and speakers. The event will be a forum for discussion, information and creativity so that Quebec’s landscape architects, architects, urban planners, students, city officials, media and private-sector representatives can become even more aware and inspired by the urban challenges and can imagine and conquer many more spaces in the city, spaces that will contribute to our social well-being.
Guests include: Elizabeth Mossop, Director and Associate of Spackman Mossop and Michaels, a New Orleans- and Sydney-based landscape and urban design firm; Kirt Rieder, President of Hargreaves Associates of Cambridge, Massachusetts; a team from New York-bsed Project for Public Spaces (PPS); artist Peter Gibson (Roadsworth); and architect Owen Rose of Atelier TauTem.
