2013 marks the fifth Urban Design and Architecture Awards in the City of Hamilton, which recognize and celebrate excellence in the design of our urban environment. A high-quality urban environment creates a sense of pride, improves the image of the City today and into the future, and is integral to developing a vibrant and sustainable community with a high quality of life.
Architects, owners, designers, planners, landscape architects, developers, contractors, engineers, consultants and members of the general public are invited and encouraged to submit.
Submissions may be a single building, groups of buildings, open spaces, landscapes, additions, alterations, adaptive reuse, heritage restoration, brownfield development, streetscapes, LEED-certified projects, parks, public art, unbuilt work, planning studies and/or student work.
The jury is comprised of Janet Rosenberg, award-winning landscape architect; Christopher Hume, award-winning columnist at the Toronto Star; Mark Seasons, Associate Dean of the School of Planning, Faculty of Environment, University of Waterloo; Tim McCabe, General Manager of Planning and Economic Development at the City of Hamilton; and Paul Mallard, Director of Planning at the City of Hamilton.
Projects must have been completed after September 1, 2011 and before August 31, 2013 and must be located within the geographic limits of the City of Hamilton.
The deadline for submissions is Friday, August 30, 2013 by 4:30pm.
