City of Calgary Waterworks and Wastewater
Manasc Isaac Architects of Edmonton and Sturgess Architecture of Calgary have been appointed jointly as prime consultants on a new sustainable office building for the Waterworks and Wastewater at Manchester Centre, south of Calgary’s Stampede Grounds. The building, which is to spearhead the redevelopment of the city-owned Manchester Centre, will begin construction in 2005. Calgary’s new Sustainable Buildings Policy stipulates that all new facilities must follow the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Green Building Rating System. The facility will thus be designed to minimize its environmental footprint while maximizing energy efficiency and providing a healthy working environment. Manasc Isaac Architects are the founders of Alberta’s Sustainable Buildings Symposium and were instrumental in the foundation of the Canada Green Building Council.
