From June 15-19 between the hours of 12:00pm and 11:00pm, Champ Libre will present an in situ electronic art event entitled Terre Nomade/Nomad’s Land. The chosen venue is at the corner of Clark and de la Gauchetire in Montreal’s Chinatown in the Sun Yat-Sen Square, a public space that was successfully renovated in 2002 by the Montreal architectural collective MEDIUM.
Faithful to its mandate of creating events that relate architecture, urban contexts and technological arts, this event showcases Quebecois, Canadian and international new media art in the context of a typical Chinese North American neighbourhood. The work shown is either created by Asian-Quebecois or Asian-Canadian artists, or directly addresses Asian culture.
An interactive staging of the event will be undertaken; site and art mutually enhance each other. The event includes a public lecture on the interaction between architecture and new media with the artists and the architects linked to the event in attendance.
