CCA presents the 2004-2005 James Stirling Memorial Lecture on the City (April 06, 2005)

In 2004, the Canadian Centre for Architecture (CCA) in collaboration with the Cities Programme of the London School of Economics and Political Science and in association with the Van Alen Institute, selected architect Teddy Cruz as the James Stirling Memorial Lecturer for his submission Border Postcards: Chronicles from the Edge. Having presented the inaugural lecture in October 2004 at the CCA, Cruz, who was recently appointed to the newly created tenured research and teaching post of Artist in Public Culture/Urban Space in the Visual Arts Department at the University of California, San Diego, will next deliver his lecture in New York City on Thursday, April 7 at 6pm.

The event is sponsored by the Van Alen Institute and will be held at the Victor Borge Hall of the Scandinavia House. Immediately following Cruz’s lecture this elaborated program will feature a discussion with Cruz and several prominent urban thinkers.

The James Stirling Memorial Lectures competition was established to create a unique forum for the advancement of critical perspectives on the role of urban design and urban architecture in the development of the urban environment worldwide. The 2004-2005 James Stirling Memorial Lecture on the City will conclude with Mr. Cruz’s presentation in October 2005 at the London School of Economics.
