CCA joins Independent Research Libraries Association

The Canadian Centre for Architecture has become the first Canadian institution to be admitted to the Independent Research Libraries Association (IRLA) and has recently hosted the annual meeting for the Association. Founded in 1972, IRLA ensures the future maintenance and development of privately supported research libraries and counts 17 institutions who do not receive public or university funding for the perservation of their collections and maintenance of their operations among its membership. A board of trustees and a full-time director oversee the collections of such libraries as the Getty Research Library in Los Angeles, the Morgan Library in New York and the Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington, D.C. The scholarly community is supported through seminars, conferences, fellowships and publications, as well as cultivating a variety of public programs such as exhibitions, tours and classes.
