Canstruction 2004 Announced
Canstruction has announced that its annual competition for professionals and students in the fields of design, architecture and engineering is returning for its sixth consecutive year. The competition invites teams to build imaginative structures made entirely of non-perishable canned food items. All proceeds from this initiative are donated to the Daily Bread Food Bank. The public is invited to view this one-of-a-kind event beginning November 18, 2004 through to November 26 at the Toronto-Dominion Centre. Patrons of the exhibit are requested to donate one canned food item as admission fare.
This incredible event creates one of the most visually and structurally amazing canned art exhibits, while helping to reduce the presence of hunger in our society, as more than 175,000 people use food relief programs each month in the GTA.
The jury is comprised of industry experts including Bruce Kuwabara, founding partner of KPMB, an award-winning firm recognized for excellence in architecture, urban design and interior design; Trevor Kruse, Principal of Hudson Kruse which specializes in residential interior design; and Lynda Reeves, ubiquitous host of House & Home Television. The entries will be judged in four official categories Jurors’ Favourite, Structural Ingenuity, Best Use of Labels and Best Meal as well as up to two Honourable Mentions.
Deadline for entry is 5pm on October 8; Build Night is November 17; Judging and Awards Gala is November 18; and the exhibit is open from November 18-26.For more information, please visit www.sdacanada.com
