Canadian designers participate in New York’s Outside the Box 2.0
After its successful debut during the 2015 Toronto Design Offsite Festival, the Toronto Design Offsite Festival in partnership with WantedDesign presents Outside the Box 2.0, taking place during NYCxDESIGN.
Shaped by the limits of a single Bankers box, and capturing a distinct perspective of each place, works from cities across Canada and the US travel to WantedDesign to be showcased from May 9-19, 2015 at Industry City, Brooklyn. Working with local correspondents, this second installment of Outside the Box features responses on the theme “Delicious design: l’art de la table.” Each box includes original works from local designers, reflecting the particular resources and makers of each area.
Participating Canadian cities and curators are Vancouver (Dear Human), Winnipeg (5468796 Architecture), Toronto (Toronto Design Offsite Festival), Montreal (Toronto Design Offsite Festival), Seattle (Darin Montgomery), Austin (Michael Yates), Chicago (Steven Haulenbeek), Los Angeles (Erin Brown), New York (WorkOf, Huy Bui), and Portland (Tsilli Pines).
Canadian boxes feature the work of Alissa Coe and Vincent Joseph Monastero, Unitfive Design, Carl & Rose, and rcboisjoli, with box fabrication by Scott Eunson (Toronto); Dear Human, Heather Dahl, Cathy Terepocki, and Gailan Ngan (Vancouver); Thom Fougere, and Hare and Hare (Winnipeg); and Ceramik B. with box by Loic Bard (Montreal).
