Canada Goes Wild! (March 18, 2005)
Canada Goes Wild! Is part of Canada’s contribution to the 2005 World’s Fair in Aichi, Japan, and reflects on the theme of Expo 2005: Nature’s Wisdom.
From March 25 to September 25, 2005, nearly 15 million visitors from Japan and abroad are expected to experience Expo 2005. Building on Expo 2005’s theme Nature’s Wisdom, Canada’s participation will explore the story of our people, and illustrate to the world the true personality and spirit of Canada. The Design Exchange will profile the work of 15 Canadian business design firms at the Canadian Embassy in Tokyo on March 31, 2005, and at the Canadian Pavilion of the World’s Fair on April 7, 2005. Accompanying the two presentations is a resource publication and a virtual exhibit showcasing Canadian design products and services, followed by a set of targeted business initiatives. Selected designers and/or firms include: Atelier BUILD, Diane Bisson, DW Product Development Inc., HighRise Magazine, IN_Situ, Kline Furniture Design Inc., Lang Wilson Practice in Architecture Culture, Scot Laughton Studio, Medonyx Inc., MOLO Design Ltd., OHM Industrial Designers Inc., Schleeh Design, Studio Stampa Inc., Vengeance9 Studio, and XS Labs. The showcase will be promoted in the Japanese media and to the Japanese design community as part of the ongoing effort to promote Canadian designers internationally.
