Canada Council for the Arts accepting submissions for architecture prizes
Submissions are open for the Professional Prix de Rome in Architecture, Prix de Rome in Architecture – Emerging Practitioners, Ronald J. Thom Award for Early Design Achievement, and the J.B.C. Watkins Award.
The Canada Council for the Arts is now accepting submissions for the Professional Prix de Rome in Architecture, Prix de Rome in Architecture – Emerging Practitioners, Ronald J. Thom Award for Early Design Achievement, and the J.B.C. Watkins Award.
The Prix de Rome in Architecture – Professional is a $50,000 prize offered to a young practicing architect or architectural firm that has completed their first built works, has demonstrated exceptional artistic potential and wishes to pursue an international career.
The Prix de Rome in Architecture – Emerging Practitioners is awarded to a recent graduate from a Canadian architectural school who has demonstrated exceptional potential in architectural design. With this $34,000 prize, the winner may visit architectural buildings and carry out an internship at an international architectural firm.
Valued at $5,000, the J. B. C. Watkins Award: Architecture scholarship is offered to an architectural student from Canada to pursue postgraduate studies outside of the country, ideally in Denmark, Norway, Sweden or Iceland.
The Canada Council for the Arts is also accepting submissions for the Ronald J. Thom Award for Early Design Achievement. This $10,000 prize is given to a practitioner of architecture or an architectural firm. The candidate must be in the early stages of a career or practice and must demonstrate both outstanding creative talent and exceptional potential in architectural design and the allied arts.
Entries for these awards will remain open until October 1, 2022.
