Call for papers: How buildings embody knowledge
The Society for the Study of Architecture in Canada is calling for papers for its 2016 annual conference, to be held in Regina, Saskatchewan from June 1-4, 2016.
The conference theme is “Saskatchewan Savoir-Faire: How Buildings Embody Knowledge.”
Canada’s architecture stores knowledge in a subtle way; it embodies our beliefs, values and world-views. It contains insight into professional, cultural and academic understanding and the traditions of those who create and inhabit it. The conference will explore how knowledge and know-how is transferred through the creation, study and use of the built environment.
The Society for the Study of Architecture in Canada is a learned society whose membership includes architects, historians, planners, sociologists, ethnologists and heritage professionals. Students in these disciplines are also encouraged to submit abstracts, and student travel subsidies are available. Paper proposals are due March 11, 2016.
