Call for Papers at Kerpic 05 at UIA Conference in Istanbul

The Kerpick Network at Istanbul Technical University is issued a Call for Papers to be presented at the International Conference to be held from July 6 – 7, 2005, in Istanbul, Turkey. The focus of the conference has evolved from the quality of life in earthen architecture and environmental and health care towards disaster prevention. The goal is to bring together the related disciplines of architects and engineers to discuss material, construction, marketing and environmental science in order to create a database and technology watch, and to develop a strategy. A social and cultural program will offer a fascinating historical tour and a distinguished welcoming dinner on the Bosphorus. The post-Congress program will include a tour to the Catalhoyuk and Cappadocia open-air museums.

Themes of the conference include: new buildings; materials; maintenance, conservation, renewal; seismic design; ecological design; engineering; and marketing management.

The submitted abstracts must be between 300-400 words in length, in English. Full-length papers are to be eight pages, including graphics, tables and references.

January 31 is the submission date for the letter of intention. February 18 is the deadline for receipt of abstracts. Accepted papers for presentation will be announced on March 21. May 9 is the deadline for receipt of full-length papers and posters.
