CaGBC National Conference: Performance Matters – The Next Generation of Buildings and Communities
The third annual Canadian Green Building Council National Conference takes place at the Vancouver Convention Centre from June 8-10, 2010 and registrations are now being accepted. The theme for 2010 is Performance Matters: The Next Generation of Buildings and Communities, with sessions and workshops on how to foster an energy conservation and efficiency culture resulting in dramatic and permanent reduction in the use of electricity in new construction, existing home and commercial markets, and sustainable communities.
The program features over 60 speakers and panelists, and eight different program streams. Topics being covered range from building performance measurements, verification and reporting, LEED Canada updates and future direction, design construction, case studies of exceptional green buildings, instructional perspectives, and information on new council programs and tools, including the Living Building Challenge.
A number of workshops and site tours will be available on Tuesday, June 8 in Vancouver. These events are in addition to the full conference delegate pass, and are a great precursor to the Conference sessions.
Bev Van Ruyven, Acting President and CEO of BC Hydro is the Honourary Conference Chair, and the keynote speaker is Vivian Loftness, internationally renowned researcher, author and educator with over 30 years of focus on environmental design and sustainability, advanced building systems and systems integration, climate and regionalism in architecture, as well as design for performance in the workplace of the future.
