Arts le Havre 2006

The first international contemporary art biennial in Le Havre (France), Arts le Havre 2006 will take place from June 1st to September 4, 2006. For this first edition, Claude Gosselin, Executive and Artistic Director of Montreal’s Centre international d’art contemporain de Montral, is invited as curator of the event. He prepared two exhibitions: the first, La Vie, la Ville, takes place around the city from June 1st to 25th, and the other, Continuum, is presented at the Muse Malraux from June 1st through September 4th.

La Vie, la Ville includes artworks that address the themes of individuality and the confusion of feelings, as well as artworks that have a direct connection with urban space: public art, landscape architecture, urban furniture. The exhibition will bring out the work of Emanuelle Antille (Switzerland), Atelier van Lieshout (The Netherlands), Jacques Bilodeau (Canada), Jordi Colomer (Spain/France), Claude Cormier (Canada), Michel Goulet (Canada), Teresa Hubbard and Alexander Birchler (Switzerland/USA), Jesper Just (Denmark), Annika Larsson (Sweden/USA), Francois Morelli (Canada) and Michel Verjux (France).

Continuum presents the work of artists guided by the intriguing structure of palindrome. Artworks from Alighiero Boetti (Italy), Ecke Bonk (Austria/Germany), Dana Claxton (Canada), John Heward (Canada), Gary Hill (USA), Carsten Hller (Belgium/Sweden), Grald Minkoff (Switzerland), Francois Morellet (France), Herv Robbe (France), Ed Ruscha (USA), Michael Snow (Canada), Andr Thomkins (Switzerland), Tunga (Brazil) and Ger van Elk (The Netherlands) will be shown.
