Architecture+Design Film Festival launches online and theatrical screenings

Douglas Cardinal, Architect of the Future is one of the films featured in Winnipeg’s A+DFF, with online and theatrical screenings.

Winnipeg’s 9th annual Architecture+Design Film Festival is ready to roll from September 16th-20th. 15 new, international films will now be screened online, and available across Canada. In addition, 11 in-person screenings will take place in the Cinematheque Theatre, at 100 Arthur Street in Winnipeg’s Exchange District. Admission to the theatrical screening will by reservation only.

The films in this year’s festival include:

  • Neutra: Survival by Design
  • Douglas Cardinal: Architect of the Future
  • Bait
  • Floating Structures
  • A Concrete Cinema
  • On Vineyards and Shoeboxes
  • A Word for Human
  • The Proposal
  • The Dreams of Others
  • Backstage Vienna State Opera
  • A Poetics of Living
The festival also includes Archishorts – two-minute films, submitted by entrants of all ages, that focus on cities and architecture. The Archishorts awards ceremony will stream live on the Festival’s Facebook page on September 19th, at 12 noon, Central Daylight Time.

The festival is organized by the Winnipeg Architecture Foundation, Winnipeg Film Group Cinematheque, and Urban Idea.

“We decided to forego panels and discussions,” write the festival’s organizers, “but look forward to a full programme for our 10th annual festival in 2021.”
