The World House Interdesign will be hosted by the Institute without Boundaries (IwB) at George Brown College in conjunction with the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (Icsid) from June 24 to 30, 2007. Leading design experts, design educators and students from around the world will gather in Toronto to learn about the World House Project of workshops and to explore through a set of systems for sustainable housing, water management and conservation, and community development.

The goals of the World House Interdesign are:to share knowledge about the World House Project
to test how design excellence can be built into a knowledge system that can be applied to local projects
to allow constituents from around the world to share the successes of their communities
to gather the collective thoughts of the workshops into a workbook, case studies and exhibition for the Connecting07 ICSID Congress.

The World House Interdesign opens with a welcome reception and keynote speaker on June 25, 2007. Participants will be presented with an overview of the program and assigned a themed workshop (Capacity, Sustainability, Conservation, Revitalization) for the week. The workshops will kick off with field trips throughout the Greater Toronto Area where participants will acquaint themselves with the unique challenges facing local communities in the context of housing and water. Participants will produce design concepts that will be captured in a workbook and exhibition for the Connecting07 ICSID Congress. Posters will be on display at the end of Interdesign for public viewing.

The World House Interdesign is open to professionals, faculty and students of design from around the world. Each countrys delegation should include representation from a design centre/design promotion organization, a local designer, a design educator and 2-3 students from a design school.

Interdesign will be of interest to educators, community groups, government representatives and local suppliers involved in housing and water programs.
