Every other year, the City of Toronto holds the Urban Design Awards to acknowledge and celebrate design excellence in the built environment, and to acknowledge the significant contribution that architects, landscape architects, urban designers, artists, design students, and city builders make to the look and livability of our city. This year’s competition drew an impressive 117 entries in seven categories. A summary of each submission is posted on the TUDA website and an exhibit of all entries will be displayed in the City Hall rotunda September 14 to 21, 2009.
The 2009 award winners will be announced at a ceremony hosted at the Palais Royale in Toronto on Monday, September 21, 2009. This evening event will feature a keynote address from Mayor David Miller, the presentation of awards, and a cocktail reception. Tickets to the ceremony are available for purchase online at www.ticketweb.ca/snl/EventListings.action?orgId=19720.
The jury report and an exhibit of winners will be available online and at civic centres following the award ceremony. For more information, please visit www.toronto.ca/tuda/index.htm or e-mail TUDA@toronto.ca.
