Viva Italia! Italian Design Today symposium

This full-day symposium anticipating the opening of the Royal Ontario Museum’s Italian Arts & Design: The 20th Century, takes place on Saturday, October 21 from 10:30 am to 8:00 pm. The event is a forum for discussing Italian design today in the context of global design markets and international brands. International speakers will address a wide variety of topics, including architecture, fashion, design and film during the full day’s schedule.

The symposium is generously supported by the Istituto Italiano di Cultura (Toronto) and takes place in the ROM’s Signy & Cleophee Eaton Theatre. Admission to the symposium is free.

In collaboration with the Istituto Italiano di Cultura, Toronto and RAI International with special thanks to Laura Boido from RAI Rome, the ROM presents Cinema Italiano, a series of feature films and documentaries. Taking place in the ROM’s Signy & Cleophee Eaton Theatre from December 1-10, 2006, the screenings are free with museum admission.

Italian Arts & Design: The 20th Century showcases nearly 300 highly representative works of 20th century Italian art and design, and is on display at the ROM from October 28, 2006 to January 7, 2007.
