Upcoming deadlines for Canada Council for the Arts architecture programs

Deadlines loom for architecture awards and grants from the Canada Council in a variety of categories.

March 1, 2014 is the deadline for the following four awards.

Professional Prix de Rome in Architecture: This 50,000 prize is awarded to a young architectural practitioner of firm that has shown exceptional promise in their first buildings, to travel worldwide. For more information, please visit   

Architecture Grants to Individuals and Firms: These grants are given to architecture professionals to advance public conversation about contemporary Canadian architecture ($20,000 maximum). For more information, please visit

Ronald J. Thom Award: This $10,000 award is given to a young architect or firm who demonstrates sensitivity to architecture’s allied arts. For more information, please visit

J.B.C. Watkins Award in Architecture: This $5,000 award supports graduate studies abroad. For more information, please visit

Travel grants are given to architects and independent critics and curators who travel to research an exhibition or publication project, or present their work to the public ($500 – $2,500).
