The University of Windsor, much like the City of Windsor, has a long history of strong and friendly relations with the City of Detroit and the many internationally recognized post-secondary institutions that call it home.

With the University of Michigan’s Dearborn campus, Wayne State University, and the University of Detroit located just a few kilometres away, UWindsor has made the most of its geographic location to develop a number of articulation agreements with these neighbouring educational powerhouses. UWindsor is uniquely positioned to provide its students with opportunities to receive international educational experiences while they continue to reside in Canada.

Celebrating its 50th year as a federated university in 2013, the University of Windsor is continuing its efforts to nurture such cross-border opportunities as the two-year joint Masters of Political Science/Master of Public Policy degree available in cooperation with the University of Michigan; the Visual Arts and the Built Environment (VABE) program between UWindsor’s School of Visual Arts and the School of Architecture at the University of Detroit Mercy, which joins students and faculty from both schools to approach the design of the built environment from the perspective of aesthetics, creativity, social culture, construction and utility; and a number of School of Social Work initiatives that provide consultation to community organizations, conduct research on varying approaches to social policy and services, as well as provide opportunities for cross-university education.

More than 100,000 alumni are being welcomed back to campus September 18-22, 2013 for UWindsor’s 50th Anniversary Celebration. For more information on anniversary activities and UWindsor’s growing campus, please visit www.uwindsor.ca.
