Two more Teknion showrooms awarded LEED Gold for Commercial Interiors

The Teknion Corporation recently announced that its Atlanta and Chicago showrooms have been awarded LEED for Commercial Interiors 2.0 Gold by the United States Green Building Council (USGBC). Teknion now has a total of eight showrooms in North America certified to a LEED standard.

“We continue to look at all aspects of sustainable development within our organization,” said Tracy Backus, Teknion’s Director of Sustainable Programs. “This includes the design and manufacturing of our products to support our customers’ environmental goals as well as our own. We are committed to sustainable design and LEED-rated spaces as our corporate mission. As we lead by example, we show support for our clients in their quest to attain LEED certification for their buildings by understanding the process and the challenges with all aspects of green buildings.”

Atlanta and Chicago mark the fifth and sixth Teknion showrooms, respectively, in the US to attain LEED certification from the USGBC. The company’s Santa Monica, San Francisco and Washington, DC showrooms received LEED Gold certification, and the Boston space received LEED Silver. Teknion’s Ottawa showroom attained LEED Silver and Montreal LEED Platinum for Commercial Interiors from the Canada Green Building Council (CaGBC).  

The 7,300-square-foot L-shaped Atlanta showroom was designed by Vanderbyl Design. tvsdesign was the architect of record. Located at #125 – 271 17th Street NW in Atlanta, tours can be arranged by calling 678.538.1760. Teknion’s recently expanded 22,000-square-foot showroom on the 10th floor of The Merchandise Mart in Chicago was also designed by Vanderbyl Design. Tours can be arranged by calling 312.730.1110.

The LEED green building certification program is a voluntary, consensus-based national rating system for buildings designed, constructed and operated for improved environmental and human health performance. LEED addresses all building types and emphasizes state-of-the-art strategies in five areas: sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials and resources selection, and indoor environmental quality.
