Hospitality Design magazine awarded Toronto-based DesignAgency, Generator’s Global Design Partner, a 2015 HD Award for Generator Paris and shortlisted Generator London as a finalist.

The Hospitality Design Awards celebrated their 11th edition this year at a ceremony that took place on June 3, 2015 in New York City. The program recognized some of the best achievements in hospitality design, selected from more than 560 entries from around the world—the most ever in the competition’s history. This year’s judging panel included Dan Kwan, Managing Director of Wilson Associates; Katherine Lo, Executive Director at Langham Hospitality; Lionel Ohayon, Founder of ICRAVE; Will Meyer, Founder of Meyer Davis Studio; and Larry Traxler, Senior Vice President, Global Design at Hilton Worldwide.

Generator Paris won the HD Award for midscale/economy guestrooms or suites. Located in the trendy 10th arrondissement, Generator Paris opened its doors in February 2015. The property integrates custom elements common to Generator’s aesthetic – such as signature G sculptures, fun lighting fixtures, bold colour schemes as well as custom furnishings, installations and murals made by local artists that ensure the location’s exciting social spaces reflect the local spirit and culture.

The rooms at Generator Paris are simple yet stylish with a range of Mineheart book wallpapers that nod to the bookstalls lining the Seine and quintessential French details such as Lampes Gras lighting. All rooms are equipped with the essentials including comfortable custom-designed beds, sleek en-suite bathrooms with monsoon showers, and wi-fi. Premium rooms include private terraces with wood floors, hammocks and stunning views of the city.

Generator London was recognized with the title of finalist in the midscale/economy public spaces category after DesignAgency updated the original flagship in 2014 and transformed the property into one of London’s best design-led hostels.

Reflecting on this recognition, Anwar Mekhayech, principal at DesignAgency and creative director of Generator declared, “As Generator continues to expand within Europe and sets its sights on the United States, this continued acknowledgement from Hospitality Design magazine and the industry is very encouraging.”
