TAAFI, Canada’s only alternative art fair in Toronto, takes place from Thursday, November 3 to Monday, November 7. TAAFI combines individual artists, curators, commercial galleries and not-for-profit art institutions in the relaxed setting of two of the city’s most beautiful and historical small hotels.
The Drake and Gladstone Hotels are located in the heart of the West Queen West Art & Design District. Our roster of exhibitors includes 28 great local, regional and international galleries, artists and curators and over 25 invitational artists.
Exhibitors include Matthew Brannon, Liam Gillick, Philip Monk, Bruce La Bruce, Susan Hobbs Gallery, Art Metropole, Katherine Mulherin Contemporary Art, Magic Pony, Birch Libralato, and the Wayne Baerwaldt-curated Biennale de Montral 2007, among several others.
TAAFI will also feature performances and video screenings complimented by daily panel discussions by nationally and internationally recognized artists, curators and critics. The admission price for daytime panel talks and screenings is included with the general admission of $6.00, as is a 96-page colour catalogue.
The TAAFI Gala takes place Thursday, November 3 from 9:00pm to 2:00am at the Gladstone Hotel and features two DJs, three bands and performance art throughout the night. A Saturday night performance by Peaches and MC Texass takes place at the Drake Underground. Advance tickets for special events may be purchased in advance of TAAFI at the Drake and Gladstone Hotels as well as at Pages Bookstore and Rotate This.
