Taking place from March 6-9, 2008 at the historic Liberty Grand in Toronto, this new art fair will offer gallerists, curators, collectors, designers, architects and other art-buying enthusiasts an opportunity to experience art in a dynamic setting. Over 100 juried artists from across North America will showcase their original artwork, and all are invited to this distinctive event to meet and purchase from both emerging and established artists.
The opening night preview takes place from 7:00pm to 10:00pm on Thursday, where you will enjoy an evening of art, drinks and hors d’oeuvres. Indulge in Friday Night ARTinis with Mark Challen from 6:00 to 7:00pm. Challen of House & Home Media is familiar to television audiences, and will take you on a visual tour of his own home and illustrate how his use of original art from paintings to mixed media to photography has created pleasing vignettes around the house. Learn the best tricks and tips on how to decorate with flair and personality.
Opening night is followed by an after party at the Drake Hotel, where you can enjoy cocktails and conversation long into the night. Admittance is based on capacity. Two full days follow on Friday and Saturday from 11:00am to 8:00pm. The event concludes on Sunday, which runs from 11:00am to 6:00pm.
The Artist Project offers the Art Chat Series on both Saturday and Sunday between 2:00 and 3:00pm, hosted by Betty Ann Jordan. Jordan is the author of the monthly Artist File column for Canadian House and Home magazine and founder of Art InSite art and design tours. In the chat entitled “The Thrill of the Chase: Art Buying Trends and Tips,” Jordan will guide you through the process of buying original art including tips on understanding pricing and quality. Coffee and tea will be provided.
The Liberty Grand is located at 25 British Columbia Road, Exhibition Place in Toronto.
