Langara College in Vancouver, British Columbia has selected Teeple Architects Inc. in joint venture with Proscenium Architecture + Interiors Inc. to design the next phase in the development of its campus. The campus is planning for the addition of a new creative arts centre and theatre building, a gymnasium, a wellness centre and a daycare, completing a master plan originally conceived in 2004 by Teeple Architects Inc. with IBI/HB Architects.
Teeple Architects Inc. (with IBI/HB Architects) have already completed three notable buildings as part of the master plan including: the Library and Classroom Building, the Langara Student Union and Academic Building C. All of these newly completed projects are being certified LEED Gold and the Library and Classroom Building has been recognized with a Canadian Architect Award of Excellence, a Holcim International Award for Sustainable Construction and a SAB award for design and environmental sustainability.
The future buildings that will complete the master plan will reflect the vision of Langara College through a commitment to architectural excellence and innovative sustainable design. They will contribute in transforming the campus into a coherent sequence of interdependent outdoor and indoor learning spaces that will serve both the faculty and students at the College and the surrounding Vancouver community.
