The opening of SweaterLodge, Canada’s entry into the 10th International Architecture Exhibition at the Venice Biennale, takes place the evening of Friday, September 8, 2006.

Commenting on our culture of mass consumption and our love of the great outdoors, the major element of SweaterLodge is a giant polar fleece sweater.

Over 3,150 recycled 2-litre plastic pop bottles were used to make the fabric. SweaterLodge measures 87 feet cuff to cuff.

SweaterLodge was designed by Bill Pechet and Stephanie Robb of Vancouver’s Pechet and Robb Studio.

The Venice Biennale runs until November 19, 2006.
