Spacing is happy to announce the details about our fifth anniversary issue and release party, which takes place on Wednesday, December 10th from 7:00pm to 1:00am at the Great Hall located at 1087 Queen Street West. Regular admission is $10 (including a copy of the magazine) or $5 for subscribers.
Spacing was originally launched December 3, 2003 at the now-defunct 360 Legion Hall near Queen West and Spadina. The founders weren’t even sure if there would be a second issue, so they feel quite fortunate to have reached 13 issues over five long years.
The Fall 2008/Winter 2009 issue is their biggest to date and includes the introduction of a new section called “The Issues” as well as a fresh new look to their pages. The cover section profiles the winning entries of the thinkTORONTO urban design ideas competition.
At the party, they plan to have large panels displaying the finalists from the thinkTORONTO urban design ideas competition, and there will be a photo portrait section again. The evening will be rounded out with live music and also a DJ who will provide danceable music throughout the night.
Copies of the new issue of Spacing will hit newsstands on Tuesday, December 9, 2008.
People will be asked to name five things they like about Toronto, and their answers will be filmed.
