How do you define design when design is ever-shifting? For the sixth year, the Shaw Contract
Group Design Is…Awards honour the architects and interior designers around the globe who shift the very idea of what design is. Design firms may enter their projects online at www.shawcontractgroup.com/designIs/entry through February 25, 2011.
The Shaw Contract Group Design Is…Award is a leading program that asks entrants to define what design is through the challenges, processes and results of their projects.
“Design is constantly shifting. Spaces, people, eco-systems and paradigms,” said John Stephens, vice president of marketing. “The Design Is…Award is a call to shifters everywhere, those that are change agents impacting the way we think, work, create, teach and heal. Not only does the Design Is…Award identify projects worthy of discussion by the community at large, the program is advancing the power and reach of design, along with the solutions that design presents.”
Since 2006, Shaw Contract Group has donated $48,000 through the Design Is…Award program to support design education and social responsibility, all in the name of the winning firms. In 2010, over 250 projects were entered in the program, including work from top firms in 15 countries.
Shaw Contract Group will promote winning projects through marketing materials, media outreach and an advertising campaign in leading A&D publications. In addition, winning firms each receive
$2,000 to donate to a school or organization of their choice.
Because carpet is only a part of the project, the overall design of the space is considered. All design projects using Shaw Contract Group or Shaw Hospitality Group products, completed between February 2009 and February 2011, are eligible.
