Ryerson University launches new graduate program in Building Science

Ryerson University Department of Architectural Science is launching a new graduate program in Building Science in September 2008. This is aninterdisciplinary graduate program that focuses on the building scienceprinciples necessary to deliver sustainable buildings. The program provides high-quality and professionally relevant graduate education for students considering careers in the architecture, engineering and construction industries. Applications are welcome from recent undergraduates and those in practice who wish to develop sound knowledge in areas such as detail design, building performance, human interaction with buildings, life-cycle analysis, performance assessment, construction processes, heritage conservation and forensic investigation of building failures, and how these relate tosustainable design.

The program has a strong interdisciplinary character and is open to candidates from a variety of educational and professional backgrounds such as architecture, building science, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, landscape architecture and construction. An essential ingredient of the program is the students’ exposure to a wide variety of colleagues from different professional and cultural backgrounds.
