The Design Exchange invites you to create a design team to participate in the Passive ParketteDesign Charrette (0.12 ha or 0.3 acres). Your team will work in a collaborative planningprocess that will harnesses your talents and energies to create and support a feasible plan thatrepresents transformative community change.
This call is open to design professionals, community members and students who are interested in a neighbourhood context that can benefit from visionary and socially inclusivedesign schemes. Individuals working in the disciplines of architecture, landscape architecture,urban and regional design/planning as well as those who are engaged in more specialized areasof study, such as youth services, accessibility and health care, are highly encouraged toparticipate.
Participating teams will receive an honorarium of $500, and the winning concept will receive a $2,000 award. The team projects will be featured in an exhibition at Design Exchange in February 2007.
teams must consist of a minimum of 3 people with a maximum of 5 people
5 teams will participate – registration is limited
each multidisciplinary team must include at least one landscape architect
the selected site will be revealed on October 24, 2006
teamwork and presentations will be a key component in the charrette
visual and oral presentations should reflect the dynamic of multi-disciplinary teamwork
teams must address the principles of sustainable design and universal design in their project vision
teams will work towards creating practical design solutions that will require realistic capital costs to build, cost effective and cost-efficient long-term maintenance and/or life-cycle cost analysis
teams will be required to produce three 24″ x 36″ hand-drawn presentation pages including landscape plan, N,W,S elevations and 3 design detail concept sketches (base drawing of the site will be provided)
The deadline for registration is Thursday, October 19, 2006, and the charrette date is October 24, 2006 at the Design Exchange in Toronto.
