The City of Ottawa recently announced that the Siemens-PCL/Dufferin Team consisting of Siemens Canada Ltd. PCL Constructors Canada Inc., Dufferin Construction Company, and Griffiths Rankin Cook Architects in joint venture with David S. McRobie Architects have been selected as “Preferred Proponents” for the design, construction and operation of Ottawa’s new North-South Light Rail Transit Line.

Construction of the North-South LRT line is expected to begin in the summer/fall of 2006, with a revenue service scheduled to start in late 2009.

The North-South line is being built part with funding contributions from the Government of Canada and the Government of Ontario. The North-South LRT project is being undertaken as a Public Private Partnership (P3) to maximize benefits for taxpayers.
