The Ontario Association of Architects (OAA) is pleased to announce the election of OAA President, Lisa Bate, B.Arch., OAA, int’l AIA, MRAIC. Ms. Bate has served on OAA Council since 2004 and will continue to carry out the responsibilities under the portfolio of Vice President External Relations. Ms. Bate is a member of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (RAIC) and the American Institute of Architects (AIA).
During her time on Council, Ms. Bate has chaired the OAA Communications Committee, and she has served on the Practice Committee. She is a member of the Board of Directors of the Pro-Demnity Insurance Company. Ms. Bate is principal of Six Degrees Architecture and Design Inc., Toronto. She received her Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Toronto.
The OAA President will serve the remainder of the 2005 term until January 2006. This election was held to fill the Presidency after the sudden passing of President G. Randy Roberts on September 30, 2005.
The Ontario Association of Architects is a self-regulating, self-governing profession under the Architects Act. The association governs its members and regulates the practice of architecture in Ontario in order that the public interest may be served and protected. As part of its regulatory mandate, the Association delivers a wide range of programs and services to its members and the public.
