Nova Scotia Association of Architects announces 2013 Lieutenant Governor’s Design Awards in Architecture

The Nova Scotia Association of Architects recently announced the 2013 Lieutenant Governor’s Design Awards in Architecture. Two projects received the Lieutenant Governor’s  Medal of Excellence: Wagmatcookewey School by JDA Architects (now Stantec Architecture) and the Lean-To House by MacKay-Lyons Sweetapple Architects

Two Awards of Merit went to the Charles P Allen High School in Bedford by WHW Architects Inc. and to Dalhousie Human Resources Offices by Abbott Brown Architects Incorporated.

Two Citations recognized Black Gables in Louisdale by Omar Gandhi Architect and Ritchie Gidney Residence Renovations in Sandy Cove by Houdini Design.

An Honourable Mention was given to Halifax City Hall – Stone Masonry Restoration by GF Duffus & Company Ltd.

The jury was comprised of: Christine Macy, Dean, Architecture and Planning, Dalhousie University; George Cotaras, NSAA, Fowler Bauld & Mitchell Ltd.; Jonathan Carmichael, NSAA, SP Dumaresq Architect Ltd. and Gary R. Hanley, NSAA, FRAIC – Chairman of the Jury.
