Friday, September 17, 2010 is the new date for the City of Toronto Mayoral Candidate Panel Discussion, which takes place at the Design Exchange, located at 234 Bay Street in Toronto. Hosted by the Design Exchange (DX) and the Toronto Society of Architects, the discussion runs from 2:30pm to 4:30pm, followed by a VIP reception until 6:30pm.
The design of Toronto tells the story of its past and paves the way to its future. As Canada’s Design Centre, the DX is committed to fostering economic growth and recognizes the design disciplines as key elements in the quality of our lives, the economic value of our city and the sustainability of our environment.
Architecture, Urban Design and Urban Planning constitute some of the most visible aspects of our cities, shaping the places where we all live, work, and play. The DX is proud to open their historic trading floor to top mayoral candidates George Smitherman, Rocco Rossi, Sarah Thomson, Joe Pantalone and Rob Ford, where they will present and discuss various topics regarding Toronto’s “built” future. Each of the candidates will express their ideas and visions for the future, and address the issues surrounding the livability, economic viability and sustainability of Toronto. Specific questions will be presented and an inspiring discussion will unfold.
Samantha Sannella, President and CEO of the Design Exchange and its Board of Directors are in the process of evaluating journalists and design experts to present the questions and moderate the discussion.
Admission is free and includes a seat at the panel discussion. VIP tickets are $65, which includes reserved priority seating at the panel discussion, access to the reception, and one drink ticket. The DX Member rate for the VIP tickets is $50.
