In January 2015, GE Monogram® Appliances will present a brand-new installment of the signature dining series Monogram® Dinner by Design, with a redesigned format that showcases the talents of Toronto’s vibrant design community and celebrates the love of food, all for the benefit of charity. This year’s event brings food and design to new heights with inspiring dining exhibits crafted by some of Canada’s hottest emerging and established designers, creating an extraordinary dining experience in support of Casey House and Design Exchange.

The unique, must-see event series will feature 11 original dining experiences, with styles ranging from contemporary cutting-edge and modern décor to classic opulence, from the following Canadian designers and architects: Burdifilek, Candice & Alison, Castor Design, Colette van den Thillart for NH Design, Hariri Pontarini Architects, I-V, KPMB Architects, Mason Studio, Partisans, Sarah Richardson Design and Uufie.

“GE Monogram® has earned the status as the luxury brand for food loving consumers who actually use their appliances. It is their appreciation of the finer things that inspires our product designs,” says Philippe Meyersohn, GM GE Monogram® Canada. “Our commitment to excellence in what we do has sparked valued partnerships with the design and culinary community and allowed us to create Monogram® Dinner by Design to support these two amazing charities.”

The five-day event series – founded and co-hosted by GE Monogram® – features a cocktail party, gala dinner and public viewing, all taking place at Design Exchange, Canada’s Design Museum, in downtown Toronto. Cocktail By Design will kick-off the festivities and allow guests the opportunity to explore the collection of dining installations on display, while enjoying specialty cocktails, delectable delights courtesy of GE Monogram® Appliances and music from New York’s notable DJ Lina Bradford.

The celebration continues with a gala dinner where the installations come to life as guests are treated to food and wine pairings prepared by Top Chef Canada Season 4 winner Rene Rodriguez and Biff Bistro’s chef de cuisine Amanda Ray, which echo the designs of the tablescapes where they will be served. Design enthusiasts and fans will also have the opportunity to experience and admire the unique installations at a special public viewing and the option to take part in a silent auction to raise funds for both Casey House and Design Exchange.

“Through Monogram® Dinner by Design, Casey House has a longstanding relationship with GE Monogram® to raise funds benefitting our clients who struggle everyday with HIV/AIDS,” said Stephanie Karapita, Chief Executive Officer, Casey House. “We were delighted to be approached to participate in this event celebrating the design community – a group of people and an industry that has been central to supporting the compassionate care we deliver at Casey House.”

“Design Exchange is thrilled to be partnering with GE Monogram® and Casey House to co-host Monogram® Dinner by Design. With a rich selection of creative practitioners, this culinary experience is sure to whet the appetites of those looking for inspiration for the hub of their home,” explains Shauna Levy, President, Design Exchange. “Not only are we celebrating the fusion of food and design, but we’re also raising awareness for a non-profit charity that keeps Canada on the map when it comes to design by attracting global recognition for vital HIV/AIDS care in Canada. “

GE Monogram® itself will come to life at the event as Toronto design group I-V unveil an original dining installation that captures the spirit of the luxury appliance brand. Guests will also have the opportunity to get a sneak peak at a newly released line-up of GE Monogram® products, which continue the tradition of being the choice for consumers seeking both sophisticated styling and high performance.

Cocktail By Design takes place on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 from 7:00pm to 10:00pm, followed the next day by a Gala Dinner on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 from 6:30pm to 11:00pm. Public viewing begins on Thursday, January 22, 2015 and runs until Sunday, January 25, 2015 from 11:00am to 6:00pm.
