Mockett annual international design competition

June 20, 2012
by Canadian Architect

2012 is Mockett’s 27th annual design competition, and they are specifically seeking innovative ideas in furniture parts, components, accessories and hardware. Regardless of how you may think your thought is too prosaic or too dull or too unusual or “not good enough,” please send it in and let the jury decide. You would be surprised at how many award winners were shocked when they got the congratulatory call!

Entry is easy: Send Mockett a clear write-up about your idea. A drawing is even better, and a model is best. Please send via FedEx or Registered mail and ensure that Attn: Design Competition is written on your label or airbill. Models and drawings can be sent to: Doug Mockett & Company Inc., 1915 Abalone Avenue, Torrance, California 90501, USA. Entries can also be e-mailed to [email protected]; only PDF files will be accepted.

The deadline is September 4, 2012, and the jury will convene in December 2012.

There are only first-place awards and an unlimited number of them; in the past, winners have ranged in number from one to four. All winners are awarded $1,000 and an engraved achievement trophy, along with a royalty based on sales.

Questions can be e-mailed to [email protected], or call 1.800.523.1269 from the USA, Canada, Puerto Rico and US Virgin Islands, or 310.318.2491 from everywhere else.
