Low Impact Housing: A Global Survey of Innovation in Residential Design

May 2, 2005
by Canadian Architect

In June 2004, Abri Sustainable Design initiated a global research project focused on low energy/low environmental impact housing in cold and cool climates. The result of this effort is an online database featuring some 200 projects in 22 countries which can be found at

The database includes projects by respected practices such as Vancouver’s Busby Perkins + Will; Toronto’s Martin Liefhebber; London, England’s Sarah Wigglesworth; and Switzerland’s Bauart Architekten.

Additions and updates to the database are welcome, as is feedback on the survey and online presentation. Please visit the website for more information or contact Alexander Day at [email protected]
