Jacques Bilodeau’s Off Artefact II at Joyce Yahouda Gallery

by Canadian Architect

Off Artefact II is part of a group exhibition that runs from September 8 to October 6, 2007 at the Joyce Yahouda Gallery in Montreal. Along with Jacques Bilodeau, the work of Stephen Schofield and Marie-Claude Bouthillier will be featured.

Jacques Bilodeau’s work is located on the periphery between art, architecture and design. His research on body, space and multifunctional habitats explore the architectural presuppositions associated with domestic life: how do we live within our private spaces? The objects he designs integrate and fuse into existing architectural elements, transforming space according to the moment’s needs as determined by the user.

For more than 20 years, Jaques Bilodeau’s work has been exhibited in art and architecture centres nationally and internationally. In 2006, his work was the subject of an exhibition at University of Manitoba Faculty of Architecture; in the same year he participated in the Biennale d’art contemporain du Havre in France. In 2007, he participated in Artefact Urban Sculptures in Montreal and is preparing a book on his architectural and artistic production, scheduled for release in February 2008.
